The Assistant Pastor is responsible for providing leadership to a broad spectrum of adult ministries with a focus on equipping, shepherding, and new member assimilation.
This person must be ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and have 15+ years of ministry experience.
Oversee K-Group and adult Bible study ministries that include recruitment, training of leaders, approval of resources, and developing vision
Oversee Sunday morning classes (ABC's -- Adult Bible Communities) that include teaching a class weekly, training of teachers, and developing vision
Coordinate with the Men of the Covenant Leadership Team to plan events and provide leadership for the men of the church
Maintain staff contact with Women's Ministry
Develop and implement an appropriate ministry program specifically for young families
Assist the Senior Pastor in the formation and implementation of the adult discipleship curriculum and ministry
Assist the Senior Pastor in developing, implementing, and modeling an effective evangelism ministry for the entire congregation
PASTORAL CARE & SHEPHERDING
Provide pastoral care to hospitalized individuals and congregation "shut ins"
Counsel families and individuals in crisis
Coordinate with the Session's Shepherding Committee to provide oversight to elder shepherding efforts
ASSIMILATION OF NEW MEMBERS & MEMBERS INTO MINISTRY
Assist the Senior Pastor in organizing Discovery (new member class) throughout the year
Oversee organization and function of the Sunday morning Greeter Team
Ensure that the member involvement database is updated throughout the year
GENERAL PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend Executive Staff Meetings and Monthly Staff Meetings
Help organize churchwide events throughout the year
Preach as requested
Attend Session Meetings
Attend Presbytery Meetings
Perform weddings and funerals
The Assistant Pastor is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor for day-to-day performance, and to the Session for performance related to the Principal Function.
Primarily regular office hours Monday through Friday. However, because of the demands of the job, the Assistant Pastor will find it necessary to spend many hours in attendance at various meetings outside of normal hours. Therefore, by agreement of the Senior Pastor, the Assistant Pastor will be allowed to maintain a flexible office schedule.
