Children's Pastor

About this role

The Children's Pastor is to lead the church in planning, promoting, conducting, and evaluating a

comprehensive program of Christian education for children.

Description

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Serve as childhood educational resource person and advisor.

Develop education and training opportunities for various age groups within the congregation concerning childhood ministry.

Review educational and curriculum materials and make materials available for use.

Guide in the selection, enlistment, training, and evaluation of workers for childhood

programs and ministries.

Direct and promote Kids Rock Worship service and coordinate leadership.

Direct and promote regular children's Connection Group outreach programs, leading workers to visit prospects and absentees.

Work with leadership of childhood programs to assign classrooms and church facilities forregular meetings and special activities.

Maintain an adequate system of records for educational program organization.

Formulate an annual budget to be recommended to the Executive Pastor.

Coordinate with the Executive Pastor and the Pastoral Care/Assimilation Pastor inaccomplishing total ministry mission for the church.

Supervise, train, evaluate and mentor paid Childhood Ministry Staff.

Develop personal & spiritual relationships with parents of children.

Provide counsel and spiritual guidance for families with children.

Provide opportunities for family ministry and training.

Continue personal education concerning children's ministry through reading, schoolcourses, and periodically attend conferences, conventions, clinics, and workshops.

Serve as purchasing agent for children's area in consultation with the Executive Pastor.

Maintain an inventory of church property and equipment in childhood ministry.

Coordinate with the communications team in the planning and production of churchpublicity and promotion materials that relate to children's ministry.

Organize and guide such children's ministries as special events, revivals, andfellowships.

Perform other functions necessary to accomplish a comprehensive program of childhoodministry.

Provide for ministry to children who are sick, hospitalized, or bereaved.

Counsel with parents regarding their children and special needs that they might have.

Coordinate annual events such as VBS, Children's Camp, etc...

Other duties as assigned.
