About this role
New Life Church (NLC) of Woodland Hills has a vision to plant gospel-proclaiming churches for the glory of Christ. We seek men qualified according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 who are teachable for pastoral mentorship and possess a heart for multiplying churches. This is not an internship program for cheap labor to benefit the church, rather, we are looking to pour into men's lives so they can be effective church planters.
New Life Church is offering a church planting residency (length variable to experience and background) to equip men who will plant multiplying churches for God's glory. The philosophy of ministry behind our method will be a complement of Colin Marshall and Tony Payne's Trellis and the Vine, and Mark Dever's 9 Marks of a Healthy Church.
As Paul exhorted Timothy to carefully guard his life and his doctrine, NLC will train and develop each potential church planter in character (life), conviction (doctrine), and competency (the requisite skills to plant and lead a church). Each candidate will observe a wide range of ministry in the local church and serve in various capacities (teaching, preaching, leadership, discipleship, biblical counseling, etc.). Categories of education and training will include ministry philosophy, personal care and spiritual disciplines, marriage and family care, Scripture and theology, biblical counseling, small group leading, evangelism, training for wives (if applicable), pastoral ministry, church leadership, and church plant multiplication. The residency will include regular assessments and evaluations from church leadership.
This is a part-time paid residency (up to 20 hours a week). See nlcwh.org/greenhouse for more information about Greenhouse Church Planting at New Life Church.
