Development Director-Homeless Mission

The Development Director demonstrates a spiritual maturity in life, actions, and speech, showing a consistent walk with Jesus Christ. This position is responsible for coordinating all development/fundraising operations of the Opelousas Lighthouse Mission. This position will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure relationship, activity, and fundraising goals critical to the execution of programs at the OLM are met.
Essential Job Duties and Tasks:Create and distribute written materials promoting our mission and vision in order to attract funding or other resources.Research and write grants to foundations (federal, public, and private) that contribute to Homeless Causes.Continually promote our organization as a positive influence for our community and state.Assist in organizing, planning, and promoting all OLM fundraisersMaintain a close working relationship with the Executive Director to revise, discard, or develop new strategies for development.Keep timely contact with prospective donors through systematic mailings, phone calls, appointments, and correspondence.Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, etc.Making cold calls/visits to various churches/pastors/donors/business owners to seek funding.Provide weekly reports to the Executive Director.Preferred Qualifications and Education:Demonstrate by living and word testimony that Jesus is their personal Lord and SaviorBachelor's degree (Business or marketing preferred but not required) with some business or non-profit experienceAbility to call on people and businesses in person and on the phoneBasic to advanced computer skills required (spreadsheets, database management, word processing, communications)
