The elementary curriculum developer is responsible for leading the development and implementationof elementary/primary (Sparks/T&T) curriculum and products in collaborationwith the Director of Children's Ministries. He/she maintains ownership of the elementarybrand messaging and represents Awana as the elementary subject matter expertthrough Children's Ministries communications channels. The elementarycurriculum developer strategizes and executes ministry plans and resources, participatesin revenue planning, and explores sales, distribution and delivery channels especiallyin the digital/mobile context.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include thefollowing. Other duties may be assigned.1. Contributes to the overall strategy and development of the architecture for AwanaChildren's Ministries Elementary/Primary (Sparks/T&T) programs and products lifecycles with consideration of end user, technology, research and marketing inputs. Participate in revenue target planning and assessment. 2. Initiate and actively participate in creative collaboration and development of new products, ideas and services that meet the needs of our customers.3. Develop and write products, either personally or by directing other staff and/orfreelancers. Participate in product maintenance and quality control activitiesas needed.4. Engage internally and externally as subject matter expert on elementary/primary aged children and corresponding children's ministry environments, with specific awareness of learning/personality styles and educational trends.5. Assume responsibility for utilization and sales performance of programs/products within Children's Ministries.6. Pursue networking opportunities to develop relationships with children's ministry constituents and potential ministry partners. 7. Contribute and influence cross-functional connections inside the Awana ministry.8. Explore and develop new ministry platforms and delivery channels, especially in the digital/mobile context.9. Encourage and collaborate with Children's ministries co-workers; work closely with them to learn from and balance strengths, weaknesses, talents, perspectives and experiences. Contribute to a culture of integrated workflow and information sharing.10. Collaborate with Marketing and Communication teams to effectively communicate both reactive and proactive ministry changes to all appropriate audiences.11. Make recommendations to constantly improve the effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and morale of the Children's Ministries department.12. Perform other related duties as may be required from time to time.
Qualifications/RequirementsEducation and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Primary or Secondary Education, Children's Ministry, ChristianEducation or related field plus three to five years ministry experience within children'sministry contexts. Master's degree, especially in curriculum design/instruction or similar discipline, is preferred. Previous experience in adapting technology platforms for curriculum design/instruction is desired. Strong biblical knowledge and doctrinal understanding essential.

Language Skills:Strong writing skills and presentation skills. Ability to read and interpret documentssuch as routine correspondence, invoices and purchase orders, and proceduremanuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to respond to questions and present information in one-on-one and small group situationsas well as larger teaching/speaking environments.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished inwritten, oral, diagram and schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables instandardized situations.
Other Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent interpersonal skills required, including active listening and verbalcommunication skills. Ability to take initiative to solve problems and make decisions. Organizational and time management skills necessary. Solid general office skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency and the ability to learn/master other commonly used software packages, telephone skills,problem solving skills, and attention to detail.

Work EnvironmentThe noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet.
PRIMARY INTERFACESInternal: Reports to the Director of Children's Ministries. Frequent interaction with Children'sMinistries staff members, other departments, and various committees.External: Frequent contact with Awana customers, constituents, missionaries, andoutside partners and vendors.
