Island life awaits! Summer Street Church is looking for a qualified person to fill the position of Family Life Pastor. This position covers a wide range of ministries, with a focus on youth and children. This person is expected to be a mature Christian with an education relevant to this field. They will have the opportunity to teach people of all ages, from children to adults, therefore, they should be creative and forward thinking. They should be excited to study the Bible and communicate God's love to His people. This person should be flexible, easy-going and willing to try new things.
The Family Life Pastor will have the opportunity to develop skills in practically every area of ministry. The Senior Pastor is committed to mentoring and training this person to reach their full potential for the Kingdom of God. Knowledge of social media, and general graphic arts is a must. At the very least, the person who fills this position must be willing to learn. This is a fantastic opportunity to get plugged in to a church that is looking for fresh and exciting ways to serve the Kingdom of God!
Compensation $50-65,000 Commensurate with experience
CHILDREN'S RESPONSIBILITIES• Identify and Train Sunday School Teachers• Work with Sunday School leaders to find and implement fresh curriculum• Plan and host regular outreach events• Organize and lead annual Vacation Bible School• Work with Senior Pastor to incorporate children into the worship service• Organize and host annual "Building Blocks" class• Implement creative solutions for reaching families on the island• Promote Children's Ministry events on the island• Build meaningful relationships with the families of Nantucket• Attend extracurricular functions (sporting events, theatre productions etc.)
• Host engaging weekly youth groups for both Middle and High School groups• Teach effective, relevant messages at youth group• Find, train and empower adult leaders to serve at youth group.• Plan at least one annual retreat• Organize mission trips, in conjunction with the Senior Pastor• Host quarterly outreach events• Lead a weekly Bible Study for High School students• Manage a weekly online social media presence• Contact and communicate with parents about news and upcoming events• Attend extracurricular functions (sporting events, theatre productions etc.)• Volunteer in the community as an SSC presence (coach a sports team, volunteer at the Boysand Girls Club etc.)
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES• Preach as needed• Lead components of Sunday morning worship• Submit ministry report annually• Manage relevant financial budgets• Attend weekly staff meetings• Lead youth and children leadership meetings• Maintain regular office hours• Produce relevant and fresh promotional material (flyers, signs, social media materialetc.)• Be available to support the Senior Pastor when unexpected needs arise• Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese a plus
Completed college degree required
Seminary degree preferred
Acceptable degrees- Bachelor's in a field of ministry, or Master's degree from a Seminary
