Family Ministry Director

About this role

Vision: The vision of Arise Church is to be a place where people can encounter the risen Christ as they grow as His disciple, living with a profound sense of mission, purpose, and hope. Our heart is to be a community where people can belong before they believe. Our passion is for every follower of Christ to embrace their calling as a disciple who makes a disciples.

Job Description: Our church is poised for incredible growth in the area of Kids and Student Ministry. Currently, kids (birth – 5th grade) make up 1/3 of our Sunday morning attendance. Although this position is part time (25 hours) at this time, our expectation is that it would become full time within a few years at most. It is a blank slate to a certain extent, particularly in the area of Student Ministry (6th – 12th grade). So… come dream with us! The annual salary for 25 hrs/week will be between $22,500 - $25,000.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Big Win: A servant leader who develops leaders that nurture the spiritual growth of children in partnership with their parents
  • Recruit – Identify and approach interested individuals, gaining an understanding of their giftedness and best fit for service
  • Retain – Regular communication (through email, text, huddles and team meetings), maintain and communicate the schedule, foster community within and provide spiritual care to the team members
  • Reward – Appreciate and celebrate team members regularly
  • Work closely with age level coordinators to ensure that our Kids Ministry environments (nursery, pre/k, elementary, and kids worship) are staffed with trained, equipped, and passionate leaders
  • Work with the Lead Pastor to cast vision and begin developing strategy for Student Ministry
  • Be present and highly visible on Sunday mornings to oversee Kids Ministry
  • Interact and communicate with parents, especially those new to the church
Key Requirements:
  • A Spirit-led follower of Jesus, devoted to prayer and the Word
  • A disciple who makes intentional disciples
  • A "people" person who works well with staff and volunteers of varying personality types
  • Familiar and in alignment with the Orange philosophy of Family Ministry
  • A passion for developing the next generation into disciples who make disciples
  • Proven excellence in developing leaders in the areas of Kids and/or Student Ministry
  • Commitment to creativity – we embrace failure, as long as we fail forward!
  • Demonstrated ability to develop spiritual leadership, to train/equip volunteers, to build teams, and to multiply and mobilize individuals in ministry
  • Skilled in administrating a multi-faceted ministry
  • Commitment to simplicity, intentionality, and excellence – we're not interested in doing "more" for the sake of filling a calendar, but rather maximize our efforts by focusing on a few things at once
  • Aligns with the doctrinal/theological beliefs and values of Arise Church
The Future: This position is perfect for a dreamer and someone hungry to grow as a leader. Sioux Falls is one of the fastest growing cities in our nation, voted top 5 best places to raise a family, and has the fourth fastest growing economy in the country. It is truly a hidden gem in this country… but the word is spreading and this vibrant town is booming. Arise Church recently purchased an industrial/warehouse space and is beginning demolition in November to build out our new facility and home in Sioux Falls. The Lead Pastor came on staff at Arise in May of 2017 and is building a team to lead into the future as we seek to reach our community with the gospel of Jesus.
