The Manhattan Church Planting Catalyst will work with City to City's (CTC) New York City team to pursue CTC's ambitious church planting goals in center city Manhattan. This person will spend significant time building and maintaining relationships with church planters (both current and prospective) and other CTC partners. The successful candidate will apply church planting experience and expertise within the context of these relationships to accelerate and unify church planting efforts in Manhattan.


Responsibilities include:

● Actively recruit church planters for Manhattan in collaboration with CTC's church, denominational and network partners

● Work with the NYC team to evaluate candidates for CTC's church planter training and ministry leadership programs, and provide ongoing counsel and support to participants who will launch new congregations in Manhattan

● Develop approaches to increase the number of ministry leaders in the church planter pipeline seeking to minister in Manhattan

● Consult with and inspire Manhattan congregations in their church planting endeavors, promoting balance among four ministry fronts of Worship & Evangelism, Community Formation, Mercy & Justice, and Faith & Work

● Develop and steward relationships with local network leaders as well as influential local, regional and national leaders to accelerate and unify church planting efforts in Manhattan

● Assist Redeemer Presbyterian Church congregations as they launch new sites and church plants

Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced church planter who has planted a growing congregation, or someone who has been responsible for major accomplishments in a significant church leadership position
  • Strong background in and passion for church planting
  • Lived in NYC or another major city for at least five years
  • Experience in recruitment and selection of church planters
  • Cross-cultural experience and agility
  • Understanding of and commitment to contextualization of the gospel for ministry and the Christian life in an urban context
  • Ordained minister
