Friendship Presbyterian Church is seeking a pastor fueled by the gospel, with a heart for missions and for transforming global cities. The church is located in the heart of Taipei, Taiwan. It serves a dynamic, young, and healthy congregation with approximately 300 weekly attendees, consisting of expatriate and local Taiwanese singles, couples, and families as well as international students.


Preferred Qualifications:

Ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America or a theologically congruent denomination. The candidate should have a minimum of two years of experience in pastoral ministry and have evident gifts and experience in preaching, relationship building, structured ministries, discipleship and evangelism.

Observably exemplary lifestyle as set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, yet humble and grace-driven. The ideal candidate would be positively reformed, winsome, self-motivated, creative, flexible, enthusiastic, tactful, patient, and relational and have demonstrated leadership abilities and a heart for lost people. The candidate should also be supportive of the philosophy and vision of Friendship Presbyterian Church.

Job Description:

The senior pastor will provide grace driven, expository, contextualized preaching and teaching in English. He must be able to preach what the Bible says to a contemporary audience, some of whom are unfamiliar with the cultural settings that the passage was written to. He needs to be able to preach and teach in a way that makes the gospel accessible to both those who are believers and those exploring Christianity. He should also:

Be active in evangelistic outreach.

Disciple leaders in Biblical, missional leadership.

Work with the elders, deacons and other staff members to develop strategic planning initiatives and to support them in their tasks.

Give guidance to the church's small group ministry,

Provide pastoral care for members and newcomers by connecting with them through phone, social media, and personal visits.

Connect with the growing body of international students in the church.

Connect with Redeemer City to City and its church planting efforts in Asia, and receive ongoing training and mentoring through them.

It is also helpful for the candidate to have experience in a cross-cultural setting, especially Chinese or Asian culture, and to be familiar with the Redeemer City to City philosophy of ministry.
