Island life awaits! Summer Street Church is looking for a qualified person to fill the position of Youth and Children's Pastor. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas, with a focus on youth and children. This person is expected to be a mature Christian with an education relevant to this field. They will have the opportunity to teach children of all ages, from toddlers through high school, therefore, they should be creative and forward thinking with a strong passion for youth and children. They should be excited to study the Bible and communicate God's love to His people. This person should be flexible, easy-going and willing to try new things.
The Youth and Children's Pastor should be comfortable connecting with people of all ages, and be willing to step in when something needs to get done. An ability to work with people is essential, and a positive, joyful attitude is expected. Discipleship is key to this position, and the candidate must be a person who is willing to train and equip others to do ministry. Humility is also a key component of this position, therefore; this person should be committed to serving in a way that always points back to God.
The Youth and Children's Pastor will have the opportunity to develop skills in a variety of ministries. The Senior Pastor is committed to mentoring and training this person to reach their full potential for the Kingdom of God. Knowledge of social media, and general graphic arts is a positive, however training will be offered when necessary. At the very least, the person who fills this position must be willing to learn. Identify and Train Sunday School TeachersWork with Sunday School leaders to find and implement fresh curriculumPlan and host regular outreach eventsOrganize and lead annual Vacation Bible SchoolWork with Senior Pastor to incorporate children into the worship serviceOrganize and host annual "Building Blocks" classImplement creative solutions for reaching families on the islandPromote Children's Ministry events on the islandBuild meaningful relationships with the families of NantucketAttend extracurricular functions (sporting events, theatre productions etc.)
Host engaging weekly youth groups for both Middle and High School groupsTeach effective, relevant messages at youth groupFind, train and empower adult leaders to serve at youth group.Plan at least one annual retreat Organize mission trips, in conjunction with the Senior PastorHost quarterly outreach eventsConnect regularly with the parents of SSC youth in a meaningful wayLead a weekly Bible Study for High School studentsManage a weekly online social media presenceContact and communicate with parents about news and upcoming events Attend extracurricular functions (sporting events, theatre productions etc.)Volunteer in the community as an SSC presence (coach a sports team, volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club etc.)

$50,00-65,000Commensurate with experience.
Housing- None will be provided, however the church will help to find an available house/apartment.
Completed college degree requiredSeminary degree preferredBachelor's in a field of ministry, or Master's degree from a Seminary
