Overview

To be responsible for the development and oversight of all church ministries relatedto junior high, senior high, and college age youth with the goal of our youth becoming devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Qualifications and Position Requirements (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9)

- One who possesses a minimumof a bachelor's degree in a related field (masters preferred), experience insenior high youth ministry, basic administrative and leadership skills, and apersonal spiritual life congruent with biblical mandates for leaders.

- One who is capable of creating, communicating and executing a long term vision for the church's youthministry based on Biblical truth.

- One who is passionate about discipleship.

- One who is gifted and is called to youth ministry, loves young people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.

- An engaging teacher, with a strong Biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with thechurch's Statement of Faith.

- A self-motivated leader, possessing relational skills with students, parents, and staff and one who iswilling and motivated to build relationships with youth, parents, communitymembers, and the church body.

- One who has a passion for mission actively teaches and seeks to involve teens in missions relatedopportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities (Titus1:9, 1 Timothy 3:2, Matthew 28:18-20, 1 Corinthians 12:28)

  • An overall commitment to the purpose statement of Webster Baptist of: Loving God, Making Disciples, and Serving Others.
  • Developing and teaching weekly lessons for youth group, weekly Sunday School lessons, and in worship services as needed.
  • Exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God as his highest treasure, ateachable spirit, and a healthy prayer and family life.
  • Leading weekly worship for youth group or delegating someone of appropriate spiritual maturity and giftedness.
  • Attend worship services and staff meetings on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities.
  • Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in ways that encourage partnership and involvement.
  • Maintain vital relationship with the senior pastor and Overseers. Be mentored by theSenior Pastor, remaining accountable and responsive to his oversight of theYouth Pastor's ministry.
  • Is "approachable" and accessible to church body as much as is reasonable.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budgets; also managestudent fees for events and trips in a timely fashion.
  • Provide counseling, spiritual direction, mentoring and discipleship to youth on anindividual basis.
  • Organize and lead effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblicalteaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and missionopportunities.
  • Recruit,train and shepherd volunteer youth staff with diverse gifts and personalities.
  • Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culturethat is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complementother church ministries.

Expectations (1Timothy 4:5, Matthew 28:19, Ephesians 4:11-13, Titus 1:8-9, 1 Timothy 3:2)

  • Serve at minimum as the co-leader of the education team per the constitution.
  • Grow church youth ministry in authentic and meaningful ways.
  • Attend worship services and staff meetings on a weekly basis.
  • Effectively nurture, evangelize, disciple, and shepherd the youth in alignment withscripture.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with senior pastor, staff, team leaders, churchleadership, members, and community as needed.
  • Participate in a yearly job performance review.
  • Present monthly ministry updates to the Overseers.
  • Present written annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Overseersand to the Annual General Meeting.
  • Stay current with youth ministry practices
  • Other duties assigned and mutually agreed upon.
